A new policy to accommodate Post Doctoral Fellows, Project Assistants/ Project Associates/ Project Fellows has been approved by the Vice-Chancellor.

As per the new policy, such of those whose applications (submitted after October 01, 2016) have been considered till December 31, 2016 will be required to apply again while adhering to the new policy. PDFs/PAs who have been provided accommodation earlier can continue to stay until their period of stay in the hostel expires.  Henceforth, applicants with salaries above INR 25,000 will not be considered for accommodation on campus.

Under the new policy, three rooms in each hostel will be designated to accommodate PDFs & PAs. Since there are 21 hostels, we will have a total of 63 rooms across the campus capable of accommodating a total of 126 candidates. Once the 63 rooms are occupied, the CWO will cease to provide accommodation to candidates under this category.


The following fee slabs will apply beginning January 01, 2017 for PDFs and PAs:

  • Applicants will be required to enclose certified copies of their appointment order mentioning dates and the salary paid. HRA component, if any, will need to be clearly mentioned in the appointment letter.
  • Where PDFs/PAs receive an exclusive HRA and still wish to avail hostel accommodation, the entire HRA will be credited to the university.
  • The faculty member with whom the PDF/PA is attached will be required to sign the application form along with an undertaking that if the candidates does not clear dues, the faculty member will make good for the loss at the end of the PDF/PA’s tenure.
  • The PDFs/PAs shall sign an undertaking that they will pay dues for damaging any installation in the room during their stay.
  • They shall not entertain guests in their rooms under any circumstances.
  • They shall pay at least three months’ room rent in advance.
  • They shall pay their mess dues in advance if they wish to avail the mess facility. Any balance will be adjusted against the next month’s bill/ returned when they vacate the hostel.
  • They shall adhere to the mess norms if they wish to utilize the mess facility.
  • They shall follow the norms in the Hostel Handbook like other boarders.

Hostel Wardens have been advised to identify three rooms in their hostels to ensure that accommodation can be provided to PDFs/ PAs beginning January 01, 2017.
